War Wasn't the Answer Then, And It's Not the Answer Now

The St. Petersburg Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends is delighted to announce the return of Circus McGurkis.

Last year was difficult for everyone. Christine O'Brien touched the lives of many in countless ways and we miss her. We honored her wish last year to host a much more subdued Circus, allowing old friends to reconnect from the early years of the event. We appreciated your understanding of the intimate moments our founder wanted to share with those who helped make Circus McGurkis such a special event for everyone over more than three decades.

As we honor those who have come before us, we note that in 1971 when Circus McGurkis was founded by dedicated peace activists and members of the Religious Society of Friends, our country was embroiled in a controversial, unpopular war. "Enemies of the state" seemed to be all around. Political corruption was rampant and the county was seething with anger at the White House.
War Wasn't the Answer Then. And, It's Not The Answer Now.

The message of Peace that Circus brings is timeless. If you plan to be a vendor, we welcome you. To stay true to our mission we will ask that this year you give us a simple statement on your registration form declaring how your product or service contributes to peace or peace education. Peace can be defined broadly and creatively.  We plan to produce a display with these statements on it to better educate attendees about how businesses and organizations can help create peace in our community, for our nation and around the world.
