Circus
McGurkis, The People's Fair, has been taking place since 1971. It
is a project of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). It was
started by a dedicated group of peace activists during the Vietnam
War and was coordinated for many years by Christine O'Brien. Quakers
carry on their programs as an expression of their belief in the
dignity and worth of each person and in the power of love and nonviolence
to bring about change. We celebrate all of you who, with your creativity
and activism, make our community a more beautiful, loving and just
place to live. With your cooperation and understanding, this year's
slightly incredible Circus McGurkis will be better than ever!
Circus McGurkis
features arts, crafts, music, games and ideas with a special focus
on activities for children and families of all ages and types.
Show and
sell your handiwork. Share your creativity or performing skills.
If you have service or advocacy organization, come share your work
and ideas with the community. Each year, Circus McGurkis is what
its participants make it - a festival of many colors, shapes, rhythms,
tastes and activities.
